Intellectual Robotics, Self-driving, and 3D Printing Review Briefing Session

Professor Kim Tae-kyung of Hongik University’s Department of Information Display Cooperation and Nanosin Materials (co-author Kim Ki-joo’s Ph.D.) and Professor Lee Joon-yeop of Sungkyunkwan University (co-author Park Jin-ho’s Ph.D.) have drastically improved the efficiency and lifespan of blue OLEDs through joint research.

By utilizing new blue fluorescent dopant materials and electrically and optically optimized tandem device structures, the researchers achieved external quantum efficiency at the level of blue phosphor while achieving excellent life compared to existing blue fluorescence.

This study is considered meaningful in that it simultaneously solved the low efficiency and life of blue light emitting devices, a problem of OLED that is in the spotlight as a next-generation display.

The study was conducted as part of the Korea Institute of Industrial Technology Evaluation and Development of Materials and Equipment Innovation Lab technology, and was published on March 25 in Advanced Materials (IF 30.849) which is one of the world’s best academic journals in the material field.

◇ Chungbuk Provincial Government, Office of Education, Korea Transportation University, and Self-driving Car Talent Development Team

Chungbuk Provincial Office, Chungbuk Office of Education, and Korea Transportation University’s Industry-Academic Cooperation Group will join forces to foster future talent in the key new industrial sectors of Chungbuk.

These three institutions held a written agreement ceremony on the 11th and decided to operate education programs related to new industries in the future society and cooperate in fostering and discovering future science and technology talents.

The future talent training cooperation project will be jointly promoted by the Chungbuk Office of Education and Chungbuk Provincial Government, and will be carried out by the Korea Transportation University Industry-Academic Cooperation It is operated as a basic and convergence intensive course in the field of self-driving cars for elementary, middle and high school students.

The Korean Intellectual Property Office announced on the 14th that it will hold a two-day non-face-to-face online briefing session on patent screening in the new digital industry with the Korea Intellectual Property Association and the Korean Patent Attorneys Association.

In order to support the development of new technologies in the emerging digital industry, the Korean Intellectual Property Office is working with the industry to establish new standards for patent screening in the field of convergence technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI).

Following the establishment of an examination guide in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), and biotechnology last year, a new examination guide in the fields of intelligent robots, autonomous driving, and 3D printing was prepared this year.

At this briefing session, the newly established intelligent robots, autonomous driving, and 3D printing technologies will introduce how to write patent specifications and criteria for granting patents through specific screening cases.

◇ Jeju Island seeks to ‘sell’ batteries after using electric vehicles…a notice of ordinance legislation

Related ordinances have been announced in legislation to push for the sale of batteries without discarding them after using electric vehicles in Jeju. 특허청

Jeju Island announced on the 15th that it will receive opinions from residents by the 3rd of next month after announcing legislation on the partial revision of the ordinance on the return and disposal of electric vehicle batteries in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province. The provincial government explained that the ordinance was revised to prepare grounds for the committee to deliberate on the reuse, recycling, or sale of electric vehicle batteries.

The main amendment is to change the “disposal” clause of the electric vehicle battery to “sell” and to add a plan (Article 4-2) for the Electric Vehicle Activation Committee to deliberate on the reuse, recycling, and sale of the electric vehicle battery.
